The Tallinn Waste Recycling Centre receives water softening sludge from water treatment plants containing the radionuclides Ra-226, Ra-228, and Th-228, having been previously agreed upon with the waste producer. The sludge is packaged in a non-hermetically sealed container to prevent dispersion. Waste shall be delivered together with the delivery note, the quantities of material received shall be recorded, and the total activity shall be accounted for on the basis of the delivery notes. Acceptable waste must be moistened with water to minimise dust generation.
